Charity Spotlight: Together for Animals

Together for Animals is an animal welfare charity that raises much needed funds for its member charities. This means that every donation helps four animal charities (Blue Cross, Mayhew, SPANA and World Horse Welfare) save cats, dogs, donkeys and horses from abuse, disease and neglect. This is both here in the UK and in some of the world’s most poorest communities.

Together for Animals relies heavily on Payroll Giving as their main source of funding. We caught up with Caroline Gaskin, Development Manager at Together for Animals, who talks about the impact that donating through Payroll Giving can have.

What is your charity’s mission?

Together For Animals believe that no animal should suffer from injury, disease, abuse or neglect.
The funds that are raised, primarily through Payroll Giving, help change the lives of cats, dogs, donkeys and horses who desperately need help in improving their lives now, and for the future. Because of the kind support and donations Together for Animals receives, we are able to change animals lives by:

Finding happy homes for abandoned or unwanted pets and horses. Last year our supporters helped 9,956 unwanted, abandoned or neglected animals find loving new homes.
Providing veterinary care for animals in need. Last year our supporters helped provide 395,531 animals with free veterinary care and clinical support, saving them from suffering.
Working to ensure animals are treated with the respect and kindness they deserve. In 2021 our supporters helped educate 224,367 people on the best ways to care for their animals.

The importance of Payroll Giving

Our four member charities are seeing a huge increase in demand for their services, especially post pandemic. Whether that be rehoming an animal that owners can sadly no longer keep, or providing free veterinary care. With regular Payroll Giving donations, member charities are able to act now, reaching even more animals in desperate need of help. As we receive Payroll Giving donations straight away (unlike waiting to claim through Gift Aid), our member charities are able to act quickly and help animals that are urgently in need. The regularity of donations also allows the charities to plan ahead with a steady stream of income.

The Payroll Giving impact for Together for Animals

Payroll Giving allows Together for Animals to automatically receive the tax you would have paid on the donation. This means your support goes so much further – helping four charities and thousands of animals in need each year with more funding. Over the course of a year a monthly £12.50 donation will have a huge impact by:

providing a dog and a cat with a fleece blanket to make them feel cosy and comforted on their arrival in a rehoming centre,
providing de-worming treatments for two rescued horses,
vaccinating two working animals against life threatening diseases like tetanus,
filling a water trough for two weeks, helping thirsty working animals stay hydrated,
providing four tasty meals to a dog or cat waiting to find their forever home, that contain the right combination of nutrients to maintain their good health
providing a health check for the dog of a homeless person.
vaccinating 5 donkeys or 5 puppies against life threatening illness.
