Celebrate Giving Tuesday: Six Ways to Make an Impact
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 with a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good! As a Payroll Giving Platform, we’re all about making giving easy and impactful, so of course, we’re kicking off with the best idea first!
1. Start a Payroll Giving Campaign
It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t start with Payroll Giving! Launching a Payroll Giving scheme in line with Giving Tuesday is a no-brainer. Use this day to host a morning event and invite a member of the GoodPAYE team to come in and explain how the scheme works to your teams. Turn it into a celebration – perhaps with a light breakfast – and use the launch to highlight your company’s commitment to supporting charitable causes. Payroll Giving is incredibly simple to set up, costs nothing, and can create huge social impact. Book your demo today to get set up before Giving Tuesday!
2. Donate Your Time and Skills
Remember, Giving Tuesday doesn’t always have to mean giving money. Why not encourage your employees to consider donating their time or skills? Many charities rely heavily on volunteers for everything from marketing advice to packing food parcels. By offering your expertise, you can make a real difference to a cause you’re passionate about. Our partner, Matchable, can help you find and organise volunteering opportunities that align with your team’s interests and schedules.
3. Host a Fundraising Event
Who doesn’t love a bit of friendly competition? Remember the quizzes of 2020 and 2021? Those were a great way to bring teams together! Whether it’s a quiz or a social gathering, focus on Giving Tuesday to remind your employees of the importance of the day. Why not reach out to your partner charity and invite them to give a talk about their work? This not only educates your team but also strengthens their connection to the causes they might support.
4. Encourage Your Colleagues to Share Their Giving Stories
Use Giving Tuesday as an opportunity for your colleagues to share their personal stories about why certain causes are important to them. Sharing these stories can inspire each other to do more to support the causes that matter most. Why not create a space on your Intranet or Slack channels for these stories? It’s a fantastic way to foster a sense of community and motivate everyone to get involved.
5. Consider Matching Donations
Pledging to match donations up to a certain amount is another fantastic way to show your commitment to the spirit of Giving Tuesday. This not only demonstrates your support for your colleagues’ charitable efforts but also motivates others to give since their donations will go even further. Matched donations are easily facilitated through Payroll Giving, so if you already have a scheme in place, reach out to your provider to set it up. It’s a great way to show your colleagues how much your organisation cares!
6. Download Resources
