Press Release: GoodPAYE Becomes First UK Payroll Giving Organisation to Join UK B Corp Community
April 2025 – GoodPAYE, the UK’s leading Payroll Giving platform, has officially become a certified B Corp – marking a major milestone in its mission to use business as a force for good. As the first UK Payroll Giving organisation to join the global B Corp community, GoodPAYE now stands among businesses recognised for meeting the highest standards of social and environmental impact.
B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers impact areas related to practices around governance, workers, community, the environment and customers. The certification process is rigorous, with companies required to provide evidence on performance while legally embedding their commitment to purpose as well as profit in their company articles.
GoodPAYE is now part of a global community of over 9,500 certified B Corps, having achieved an impressive B Impact Score of 108.5. The UK’s B Corp movement is one of the largest and fastest growing in the world, with more than 2,400 companies spanning a wide range of industries and sizes.
Now in its third year, GoodPAYE is a charity-owned entity dedicated to redefining Payroll Giving and increasing awareness of its benefits. Partnering with fellow B Corp PayCaptain, GoodPAYE has since developed a cutting-edge platform that simplifies the Payroll Giving process, ensuring donations reach charities faster and more efficiently. With the support of its charity shareholders, GoodPAYE is working to make Payroll Giving accessible to every employee across the UK.
Despite its potential to generate significant charitable impact, Payroll Giving remains underused with less than 4% of UK employees donating via this method. By achieving B Corp certification, GoodPAYE aims to shift perceptions, showing that Payroll Giving is more than just an employee benefit; it’s a powerful tool for companies seeking to embed genuine purpose into their operations.
Tony Charalambides, CEO of GoodPAYE, comments:
“This is a defining moment for GoodPAYE and for the Payroll Giving sector as a whole. Businesses are increasingly looking for meaningful ways to align with social and environmental values, and Payroll Giving is one of the most effective ways to achieve that. Our B Corp certification reinforces Payroll Giving as a key element of responsible business, ensuring more companies and employees engage with it to create real impact.”
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says:
“We are pleased to have B Corps of all shapes and sizes as part of our community – from startups to multinationals and across many different industries. Business is a powerful force and B Corps demonstrate that positive impact is possible in any sector. Welcoming GoodPAYE is an exciting moment for the Payroll Giving industry. B Lab UK and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased that GoodPAYE is paving the way for a new way of doing things.”
Gemma New, HR Operations and Inclusion Manager of Bates Wells, says:
“As a fellow B Corp, we are committed to integrating social impact into every aspect of our business. Payroll Giving has been a key part of this, and GoodPAYE has made it simple and effective for our employees to give back. It has been an absolute honour to be one of the first clients of GoodPAYE, and we’re thrilled that their B Corp certification will further strengthen the case for other socially minded businesses to get on board and set up their own Payroll Giving scheme.”
Liz Choonara, Executive Director of Commerce & Enterprise at Crisis, one of GoodPAYE’s shareholders, adds:
“As shareholders of GoodPAYE we are incredibly excited to witness their journey towards becoming a B Corp certified organisation. This step reinforces their commitment to driving social good and making workplace giving an effortless experience for both businesses and employees. Payroll Giving is an excellent tool for charities, even more so in these challenging times when we need new opportunities to unlock income across the sector in a socially minded and impact-led way.”
With rising ESG expectations and a workforce increasingly drawn to purpose-led organisations, GoodPAYE’s B Corp certification strengthens the case for Payroll Giving as a core part of modern corporate responsibility.
